Don't Scratch That!

Crazy pill count:
AM .5 Ativan, 90 Cymbalta, 5 Abilify, 10 Viibryd, 25 Lamictal
afternoon .5 Ativan
PM .5 Ativan, 10 Zyprexa

Today, Dr. Crazy and I are embarking on what I have fondly decided to call,
"The Great Will I Die Today, Dr. Crazy? Experiment."

It's kind of like Charlie Brown's, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," except there's no pumpkin, Charlie Brown won't be there, it's not Halloween, we won't be wearing costumes, and...okay fine, it's not at all like, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

So are you wondering what "The Great Will I Die Today, Dr. Crazy? Experiment" is?

I have mentioned that I just haven't been "myself" without my dear, old friend, Lamictal. Not feeling "myself" has become the understatement of the century. Friends, it just keeps getting worse and worse. Considering the fact trying Viibryd was trying my twenty-fifth crazy pill, there just aren't a whole lot of drugs left out there for me to try, and we know Lamictal works for me.

The problem...that little stinker of a rash we think it unexpectedly gave me two days in a row.

Remember this itchy rash?

Dr. Crazy and I are both not convinced I am allergic to Lamictal, as it seems just too bizarre to become allergic to it ten years in. Now, it is possible. Like I mentioned in this post, you can develop an allergy to any substance at any time. I do also have the very annoying tendency to get the most bizarre and rare of reactions and side effects, but still, I'm not 100% convinced of this one.

Dr. Crazy and I like to live on the pharmaceutical edge, so today is the launch of "The Great Will I Die Today, Dr. Crazy? Experiment."

Now, I hope you realize I am joking with the dying part. If Dr. Crazy thought I might actually die, we wouldn't be doing the experiment! I just like the dramatic flair of having death in the title. I think it works better than the bland alternative, "The Great Experiment," don't you agree?

She sure looks itchy.

Someone needs to tell her to:

{The Agenda in all it's glory
9am:
I will take a Zyrtec
10am:
I will arrive at Dr. Crazy's office armed with Benadryl and Lamictal
10:15am
I will take 25mg Lamictal and a Benadryl
{next 5 hours}
I will sit in Dr. Crazy's waiting room on "Rash Watch"

I will be monitored very closely. Dr. Crazy is actually taking this very seriously. I am the only one making fun of it. For five hours I will enjoy Dr. Crazy's strange waiting room playlist and write. If I start to itch or develop any signs of an allergy I will pop another Benadryl.

This = take more Benadryl

If I start to look like I might be dying, Dr. Crazy will stab me with an EpiPen and send me to the hospital.

Look like I'm dying = get stabbed with This

In case I do get a mild rash on "Rash Watch," I am just lucky I have hands.
I know not everyone has that luxury.

Like this poor cartoon girl:

I don't have much self control when it comes to not scratching itches.
I'm worried if I do get a rash I might have to invest in this:

I am a person, with the very strong belief, that when all else fails - write a love letter.
So, just in case...

Dear Lamictal,
Please don't give me hives.
It's not only that I don't want to be stabbed with an EpiPen,
but I really miss you. I do.
You have such a calm way about you.
I really admire and miss the way you even out the most turbulent of storms.
When you're around, things are just brighter.
It's as simple as that.
I miss the person I am when you are a part of my life.
You bring out the best in me.
Your pal,
-bacon

p.s. I don't think the hubs will think the no-scratch pj's are very sexy.

Until next time...

  4. bacon! So happy to see a new blog post!

And glad to hear you're attempting Lamictal again. You've mentioned before that you loved it and I do, too! My experience is that I, too, experienced a rash with Lamictal at about the 150 mg point. It was weird. Pysch doc sent me to a dermatologist who determined it wasn't the dreaded Lamictal rash but a reaction to it when I was in the sun. Anyway, we backed down to 100 mg and the rash went away. Then added it back to 150 mg after a couple of months and it's been fine so far. When I went to 200 mg, the rash came back but not as badly (same rash) and then went away. Kind of scary, tho.

I'm crossing my fingers for you that your love for Lamictal will not go unrequited. :D hugs! *chants "no rash, no rash, no rash"*
